Roosters/Hens

The roosters and hens came out terrific, it is amazing how many different interpretations were created from similar molds.  Congratulations on a job well done.  Thank you, Dolores, for taking the time to create our molds.

Thank you, Gail, for hosting our meeting.  The food was delicious and the hospitality was great. 
We will be having a swap next meeting, you will create an 11" x 14", 2D piece of art depicting what makes a perfect summer day.  Any medium.

Molds

Cindy's hen.  She included lighting inside of  her hen and created a wire nest.

Claudia's rendition.  Beautiful blues and greens.

Candie's rooster has several variations of greens and teals.

Elisa's rooster, it looks as if it is in motion.

Virginia cut into her hen and added beautiful violets and pinks.

Stephanie's hen was a hybrid of a hen and a baby.   She used the hen's head as a bonnet.  Love it!

Ana glazed her hen, then added glass mosaic.

Gail's hen was a rich, deep blue.

Milly's rooster is very colorful and regal looking.

Dolores also created a hybrid with her hen by combining a pig's head with her hen's body.  She then carved into the glaze prior to firing.  Beautiful.

I can't help but smile at Lourdes' rooster.  I love the sombrero.  She also added false eye lashes to her rooster.

I also created a hybrid by combining a doll's head on top of my hen's body.  The whole piece is covered with tissue paper.

mmmmm, the food was delicious!

Library Exhibit

These are the pictures from our latest exhibit which is being held at the Mission Valley Library in El Paso, TX.   Our opening reception was held yesterday, June 6. 

This particular exhibit had the theme of miniature works in several mediums.  Thanks to all that attended.

May27 Meeting

It was great seeing everyone on Fri., we missed those that could not attend. Next month's assignment is to finish your chickens and take a picture of them. You also have to answer the questions that were emailed to you. Here are this month's sketchbook entries. We were suppose to pick two of the three assignments.

Hearts/Color Swatches

I had a wondeful time at Virginia's house on Sat., I hope you did too. We had a great meeting with many decisions made. I will be contacting everyone through email with the info
Since Virginia hosted the meeting she was designated to assign the next swap.

She would like for us to create a piece inspired by a favorite childhood memory. She put a twist to the swap by not making it a swap after all. You will get to keep the piece you create. There are no guidelines to what you create.
Here are the pictures to this month's sketchbook entries. One was inspired by the heart, the other by the color swatches we picked last month.
Claudia created this beautiful drawing of her daughter inspired by the color green.

Gail's entry was inspired by the name of one of her color swatches "fire cracker"

Dolores created this still life in blue.

Ana's colors became the colors of her sun set. Elisa's violet lady was inspired while she was doing some deep thinking.My popscicles were inspired by my purple swatch.

Beginning and Endings/Jan.

Thank you to everyone that made it to our meeting, I always look forward to seeing everyone, you always re-energize me and help me to undwind. We missed those of you that were unable to attend.
Next months entries are as follows:
1.The heart as the inspiration.

2.We chose color samples from the hardware store. Once we selected our colors we traded. If you were not at the meeting ask someone around you to randomly select a color. Create an entry inspired by that color.

Here are the entries for our Jan. Sketchbook Entries. One of the entries was based on "Beginning and Endings" in honor of the New Year. The other entry was a "Found Poem". We took random sentences cut from a magazine and arranged them to create a poem. The poems sounded great and I enjoyed hearing the interpretations of each person, the illustrations added to the poems.
